Milanese Lace is thought to be the earliest lace ever made, starting in the 17th and 18th centuries and continues to be made today. Originally making beautiful Passemnteri style went on to develop patterns of flowing scrolls and blossoming flowers.
This piece represents not only Milanese but I also Honiton bobbin lace. Honiton lace is a lace that my Grandmother would sit and make in Sidmouth, Devon not far from the town, Honiton. So this piece sits close to my heart.
I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I do.
