Girraween – Indigenous word for “place of flowers”
I never really plan my work, it evolves. Growing from the inside out. As this piece began I wanted to embrace my love of nature, my love of plants and as it grew my love of my country. State flower emblems took their place on the paper. As with most of my work I began to study the flowers and their beauty. This piece required me to pull back to allow breathing space between each flower and pattern. Not an easy task for me. In the end I feel I have created peace and harmony in this work. The name which was suggested by a member of my page was perfect. As soon as she mentioned it I knew it was going to be the name of this piece.
